Title: Computer Vision in Daily Life
Abstract: Until recently, computer vision systems have been associated more with academic research than practical applications in our daily life. Unlike computer graphics, which has seen extensive applications in gaming and movie industry, computer vision systems have not had impact at the same scale. Fortunately, things start to change for the better in recent years. Computer vision finally begins to see the light at the end of the long tunnel. More and more vision systems start to find applications in real life, especially on the internet. In this talk, through a series of demo vision systems that have been adopted in real commercial applications showcasing technologies on face recognition, photo browsing, photo quality assessment, and internet image search, we hope to demonstrate how, with a few simple and effective ideas, computer vision can make real impact in our daily life.
